Anisha Dharmadasa inducted as 61st President of Rotary Club of Colombo West

Anisha Dharmadasa was inducted as the 61st President of the Rotary Club of Colombo West and Kapila Mohotti as Club Secretary during the first ever “virtual installation” which was conducted according to the customs and traditions of the club recently.

 
The club had District Governor Aruni Malalasekera, as the chief guest together with members and guests. The evening was lined up with competitions and activities which included the best dressed and the best song.

 

Introduced to the Rotary family in 2015, Anisha, has been an active member of the club and served as the Vocational Service Director, Youth Director and Club Secretary. He is also a multiple Paul Harris Fellow.

 

Anisha’s objective is to give back to those in need through a very reputable organisation like Rotary. He is known as a perfectionist. A product of Wycherley International College, he has over 20 years of experience in Nawaloka Holdings in executive management and he is currently a Director of that company.

• “Don’t skip a beat” – open heart surgeries for needy children from underprivileged backgrounds with congenital heart disease which has been successfully continued for a few years in India and in Sri Lanka.
 
 
• Cataract surgeries  – Donations received for 61 surgeries. The project commenced on 27 July 2021, and 17 surgeries have already been completed. The project is in collaboration with HelpAge Sri Lanka Eye Care Centre to perform surgeries to those unable to afford it.
 
 
Water and sanitation – building toilets and providing clean drinking water to 50 schools.
 
 
Tree planting project – planting 1000 trees to be completed by December 2021, worth Rs 100,000 under the RI District 3220 Planting Programme.
 
 

First time online initiative

 

The leadership master class project – given the necessity to strengthen the youth of Sri Lanka, the programme will publish videos by key selected mentors which will assist the youth to sharpen their soft skills, adhere to workplace ethics, develop networking skills, problem solve, develop critical thinking, long term planning, develop teamwork, enhance leadership skills, face challenging situations at work and many more.
 
These videos will be freely accessible on their website and social media platforms. The Rotary Club of Colombo West – which was formed in 1961 (now celebrating 60 years) – is the second largest club in Sri Lanka.

It consists of members drawn from diverse industries and professions, and is actively involved in community service projects across the country.
