The District Training Assembly 2019 -20 was hosted by The Rotary Club of Colombo West under the Chairman ship of PP Shan Shanmuganathan, on the 15th of June 2019 at Colombo Hilton. Over 500 Rotarians representing 63 clubs from different parts of the country attended the event, despite the calamity caused by the Easter day bomb attack which was only few weeks prior to this event, thereby demonstrating the commitment of the Rotarians from the District. Given the country situation, the event was conducted on a no frill -business only basis.
Besides the training aspect, highlight of the day was the Installation of DG Sebastian Karunakaran, who takes over the leadership of the District from DG Dushan Soza. This ceremony was followed by the Keynote address delivered by PRIP K R Ravindran, who spoke about the urgent need for peace and reconciliation in the country. This subject was also reinforced by PP Rukshan Perera from the Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan, in a live performance of his original composition developed after the Easter day carnage titled “Rise up Sri Lanka”.
District Trainer PDG Thariq Thulba and his hand-picked team, took immense care in training the club leaders in all avenues of service during the breakout sessions split in the following manner:

A musical performance by Sarah Karunakaran, daughter of DG S Karunakaran and her team added the personal touch to the program, which was concluded at 1 15 pm followed by fellowship and lunch.
