Presidents Message
Dear Friends in Rotary and Well-Wishers,
It is with great honor and humility that I step into this Rotary Year as the 65th President of the Rotary Club of Colombo West. For sixty-five years, our Club – the second largest in Rotary International District 3220 – has stood strong as a beacon of service, fellowship, and integrity. We have worked hand in hand with communities, uplifted the underprivileged, and contributed to building a better Sri Lanka and a better world.
The Rotary International theme for this year, “United for Good,” resonates deeply with our Club’s spirit. It is a call to action – a reminder that when diverse minds and compassionate hearts unite, we can create meaningful, lasting change.
This year, we will continue to focus on all seven areas of Rotary service, ensuring that our work touches lives across health, education, peace, economic development, and the environment. Our flagship initiative – Pediatric Heart Surgeries under Global Grants – will remain at the heart of our mission, giving children the gift of life and families the gift of hope.
Beyond this, we will advance impactful projects such as:
• Cataract and Pediatric Eye Surgeries to restore vision and dignity.
• Interfaith Initiatives that foster peace and understanding across communities.
• Health Camps, including the Pink Pledge breast cancer awareness drive and Mental Health Awareness campaigns, addressing urgent public health needs.
• Micro-SME Development empowering women in rural Sri Lanka to become self-reliant and resilient.
• Thalassemia Awareness and Detection to combat this silent but devastating condition.
• Youth Service and International Projects nurturing future leaders and strengthening global bonds.
• Artificial Limb Donations that restore mobility and independence to those in need.
Each of these initiatives is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together as Rotarians – professionals, leaders, and humanitarians united by a single purpose: to serve above self.
I invite all our members, partners, and friends of Rotary to join us in this journey. Together, let us be United for Good – serving with compassion, acting with integrity, and creating a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
